At 700 Madison Avenue, in the heart of New York City, Ciguë continues to write the contemporary story of the John Lobb brand in a 120m2 space, blending new inspirations while remaining true to its radical essence.

For this occasion, the architectural firm reinvented a global boutique concept that encapsulates all the House's services and know-how: high-precision leatherwork, shoeshine, made-to-measure and on-demand creations.

For John Lobb's New York space, Ciguë subtly blends this retro-futuristic aesthetic with a Mid-Century East Coast touch, evoking the chic, hushed interiors of the 60s penthouses that dominate Madison Avenue. Blending stainless steel with the warmth of walnut wood, this laboratory-showroom with its thin riveted envelope is as reminiscent of a ship from a science-fiction film as it is of Charlotte Perriand-style micro-architecture. The soft-shine finish of the metal reflects the impeccable polish of the leather on display.

The result is a setting of discreet refinement, full of formal contrasts, between curved contours and clean lines, chiaroscuro surfaces and materials. The graphic, sensual lines of lacquered shelves, tables in patinated brass or Azul Bahia stone and seats in mohair velvet or cotton, interact with the leathers and suedes of derbies, moccasins, boots and sneakers. Sharp metal and dark hemlock wood are complemented by carved blocks with sharp edges, giving character and temperament to a boutique that's as much gallery as salon.
