Conceptualized by Some Place Studio, Soft Kitchen is a 70m2 space realized in 2023 in Berlin, Germany, whose initial idea was to create a functional sculpture, a process that required an innovative use of traditional techniques.

The kitchen is the central element of the project, composed of a long rectangular stainless steel unit and two organic sculptural volumes, which serve as shelving and a kitchen island with a bar area.

In the design process, a combination of traditional clay sculpture techniques and digital modeling was used. Some Place Studio worked closely with a master carpenter to sculpt the intricately curved volumes so that they would be durable enough to be used in a kitchen.

The project includes a modification of the apartment's layout to link the kitchen to the living room, as well as a custom dining table in ash wood with asymmetrical columns covered in microcement. Soft Kitchen is the first project to use a technique that creates durable kitchen surfaces while allowing creative freedom and sculpting organic forms.
